You should re-install your expansion cards at this point. It's a step missing from these instructions.
Be careful to align the wi-fi board properly and push/hold it all the way down. The top of it should be flush with the top of the threaded piece into which the hold-down bracket screw goes. When adding the bracket, make sure it is seated properly also -- there is a pin that sticks up that needs to go through the smaller of the two holes in the bracket.
I am a bit puzzled that the bracket is not insulated on the bottom side. It looks like it could short out the two antenna connectors if it was bent or there was pressure on top of it.
The cable clips are very poorly adhered to the mainboard; one of mine was floating free, still attached to the wires; and a second one came loose when reinstalling.
Make sure it is pushed all the way in; it takes a fair amount of pressure to seat it. When fully seated, there will be only ~1mm between the ears on the connector and the black housing.
Before even starting, inspect the new board to be sure all the connectors are ok. Mine had the speaker connector broken off.
I would be extremely cautious in undertaking this. The replacement part is not shaped the same around the rim as the battery it is replacing. The replacement has an abrupt 90 degree corner around the cylinder edge on both sides; the battery it is replacing has a rounded edge on the bottom and a recessed edge on the plus side. As a result, while it is relatively easy to slip the battery under the tangs of the plastic clip which holds it in place (both top and bottom), it is much more difficult to fit the replacement part under the prongs of the plastic clip -- the bottom of the cylindrical replacement is wider than the bottom of the battery. The bottom edge of the cylinder doesn't easily fit under the top clip. If it isn't under the prongs at the top, the bottom bracket will break off when you try to snap it in place. I had little trouble replacing the battery; when I went back to replace the battery with the substitute part, I snapped off the bottom bracket. Poor design.
There is now only one image, which isn't good -- the image showing is for channel 1, and should be for channel 0.
2023-08-17 I only see one image, not 2 or 3
Since the assembly also includes the fingerprint reader, a replacement will invalidate any enrolled fingerprints. To re-enroll fingerprints (on ubuntu), run fprintd-enroll (see man fprintd). I don’t know what a windows equivalent would be.
